This week I’ve seen the return of the Ovenbird, Catbird, Baltimore Oriole, Rosebreasted Grosbeak, and Pheasant.
What’s really exciting is that I can now identify them by sound as well as sign, thanks to Birding By Ear.
Here is what I was able to see as well as hear on a perfect spring day hike:
This Oven Bird hung out for at least two full minutes. I got several photos and one 30 second video.
Catbirds are inquisitive and this bird was not shy about checking me out.
I got a glimpse of this fast moving bird because he stopped to check out the cocoon.
The Robin and Rose-Breasted Grosbeak are up before sunrise.
The pheasant was a total surprise, foraging around 8:00 AM EDT.
